Organize, Set a Purpose, and Engage!

As I reflect on my time in Kindergarten, if there is anything I have learned, it is the need to do just what the title of this post states - keep my classroom organized, set a purpose for everything I do, and engage my students in their learning.

Once I was able to establish these three factors as norms in my classroom, I found myself able to focus more attention on the creation of new units and lessons, further development of differentiation for new and old activities, and providing interventions to students performing below average on district assessments. It is amazing what you can accomplish with a bit of organization and purpose in your life!

Over the next few days, I will focus in on each of these important components. Hopefully the ideas and pictures I post along the way will be helpful to you and your students! For now, I leave you with a fun, colorful, organized, and engaging bulletin board that I greet my students with each year. Students are captivated by this board, excited to not only see themselves as an apple, but also to begin learning about the fruit, which happens to be our first unit.
