I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. To give you a bit of background, I graduated from Elon University in 2008 eager to jump feet first into any job I was offered. I began my teaching career in a third grade classroom and while the grade level wasn't my first choice, I truly grew to love it. The students were independent and hard working, yet still depended on me for support and guidance. I learned a lot that first year, forcing me to grow as a teacher and step out of my comfort zone.
As the year came to a close, I was presented with the opportunity to move to kindergarten. My family and friends thought I was nuts, but the feeling that took over me can not be explained with words. As I made the journey to the 'primary wing' I was overwhelmed with both nerves and excitement. I had always dreamed of being a kindergarten teacher and that dream was finally becoming a reality.I am now half way through my third year in kindergarten and would not change anything for the world. I am greeted each day by 23 smiling young students, eager to enter our classroom and begin their day of learning. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to welcome these young minds to the world of learning and help them each begin their educational career on a positive note.
While I love dedicating my blood, sweat, and tears to my classroom and my students, there comes a time in every one's life where they need to start working smarter, not harder. Educators are out there everywhere, putting their heart and soul into our profession. Sharing and collaborating will not only make us all stronger, but will keep us all sane!
I spent a great part of my summer vacation 'stalking' teacher blogs and gaining a plethora of fabulous ideas, lessons, and strategies. I am currently implementing everything I gained in my own classroom and hope that through my own blog, I am able to share some of my own ideas with other teachers.
Enjoy!
